Stanley "Tookie" Williams is not a co-founder of the crips, he only claimed that title in hopes that the State of California would spare his life on death row and because Raymond Washington, who was killed in 1979 was not alive to dispute. Tookie joined the crips much later. Raymond "Truck" Washington is the sole founder of the crips on the east side of south los Angeles. Raymond later, in 1971 convinced an existing gang called the Smaks in 100 streets on the west side of South Los Angeles to become Crips and take the name West Side Crips, while Raymond converted his gang on the other side of the 110 freeway to the East Side Crips. After this merger/conversion, Tookie abandoned his Al Capones ganag and became a west side crip and assumed leadership because of his size as a bodybuilder. 172.127.5.11 (talk) 16:19, 4 November 2016 (UTC)

Wrong membership

Wrong membership 1999 the crips was 35,000 2017 will be 80,000 Moneymake10000000r (talk) 04:37, 21 March 2017 (UTC)
- Not done, this needs a source for the 2017 value - can you point to one? I've flagged the 30-35,000 figure as being undated, as the 2013 book source doesn't appear to give a date for the figure. --McGeddon (talk) 08:29, 21 March 2017 (UTC)
This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
- I have proof look up how powerful street gangs are you will see the real membership 50,000 Moneymake10000000r (talk) 16:59, 21 March 2017 (UTC)
- How powerful street gangs on YouTube Moneymake10000000r (talk) 17:00, 21 March 2017 (UTC)
- Please give a specific link to the video you're talking about (and the timestamp at which the claim is made, ideally). Thanks. --McGeddon (talk) 17:04, 21 March 2017 (UTC)
- Did you get the link Moneymake10000000r (talk) 17:34, 21 March 2017 (UTC)
- You didn't give me a link, but it looks like you're talking about https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQ0wEdBG_Pk, a NowThis News segment which says that the Crips "claim between 30 and 50,000 members in the US" while displaying "~30,000-50,000 members" on screen. The segment doesn't attribute any particular source for this information, which makes it seem rather weaker than (having dug through the currently cited statistic) a 2008 Department of Justice report that put the numbers at 30-35,000. https://www.justice.gov/criminal-ocgs/gallery/criminal-street-gangs, dated 2015, uses the same figure. --McGeddon (talk) 17:43, 21 March 2017 (UTC)
This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
But the number was originally in 1999 35,000 it's 2017 so it could be 50,000 or 80,000 as they got they source from probably Wikipedia Moneymake10000000r (talk) 17:51, 21 March 2017 (UTC)
- The video doesn't suggest 80,000 as a figure. A video using a statistic from Wikipedia would be much less reliable than a Department of Justice report. --McGeddon (talk) 12:51, 22 March 2017 (UTC)
- Not only does the unreliable video not say 80,000, it says "between 30 and 50,000". Guess what? 35,000 IS between 30 and 50,000. Niteshift36 (talk) 20:37, 22 March 2017 (UTC)

I would like to edit because the Crips and Bloods do not rival. After crip/blood high ranking gang members and rappers Snoop Dogg and the Game were able to negotiate a truce between many of 30,000 sets. Jewels Royal (talk) 18:00, 5 May 2017 (UTC)
